Widely used in garden plantings across Australia. The flower colour often varies even within a single population and may be pink, mauve, red, orange or yellow, often spotted on the inside. These are a very hardy variety that are native to Western Australian open woodlands.
The name Eremophila is derived from the Ancient Greek ἐρῆμος (erêmos) meaning "lonely" or "desert" and φίλος (phílos) meaning “dear" or "beloved” alluding to the species' adaptation to arid environments. Magnificent abundant red to deep pink flowers that are born on a shrub that can grow to around 1 metre tall and wide. From mid-winter to spring emu bush is covered with an abundance of tubular, rosy red flowers that grow along the tips of its branches and attract hummingbirds. Thrives in partly sunny areas, and requires little moisture once established. Produces gray-green leaves and red, orange or yellow flowers, adding a touch of color to your landscape.
